Hubbard School is celebrating Earth Day on Friday, April 21st in three special ways: Adopting a Rainforest, Our Home Planet Earth Assemblies and the PTO Recyclable Animal project. We will adopt a rainforest through the Rainforest Alliance. If you are interested in donating, please send in a donation of $1.00 (or more!) with your child on Friday. We are sure our efforts are going to really make a difference. The PTO is sponsoring a "recyclable animal" event in every classroom, click above for more details. Remember to wear GREEN or BLUE on Friday, April 21st!
Our school is participating in a fun reading project: the Read for the Rockland Boulders' Record Reading Challenge, sponsored by the Rockland Boulders, Scholastic Book Fairs and Active International. Research tells us that students that read at least 20 minutes a day score in the top range on reading tests and express more motivation and interest in reading. Even short blocks of time every day are better than bursts. This Reading Challenge unites students from around Rockland and surrounding counties in an attempt to establish a habit of independent reading at home. The challenge begins April 24th and ends May 12th. Click above for details.
Children's author Aaron Reynolds will be visiting Hubbard School on Thursday, May 4th. Click above for details and to order one of his books through the Hubbard PTO to be autographed. For those of you who may have missed the form, we will have some extra books that will be sold on first come, first serve basis on Tuesday, May 2nd immediately after school. Any books purchased at that time will also be autographed by the author.
